I’ve never really been the most fashionable person. Honestly, I’ve always felt like I’m either a step behind everyone else or accidentally three steps ahead, which can make things kind of awkward when it comes to style. For the longest time I tried to keep up with trends, but at some point I realized that no matter how hard I tried, I was never going to fit perfectly into that mold.
So instead of stressing about what’s “in” or worrying about whether I’m wearing the right thing at the right time, I decided to take a different route. I started designing my own stuff—clothes that make sense to me, that feel like me. It might not be runway-worthy, and it might not make the next big trend list, but that’s okay. Because at the end of the day, it’s what I put on my back, and if I’m comfortable in it, that’s what matters most.
It might catch someone’s eye, or it might make people scratch their heads and wonder what I was thinking—but that’s kind of the beauty of it. Fashion is supposed to be fun, personal, and a little unpredictable. And if nothing else, at least I know I’m walking around in something that tells my story.
